Philosophy of Education

I believe that as a teacher I must always do my best and to be constantly in the loop with all the new and different ideas of teaching. Teaching is a never-ending process and that means I must go out of my way to learn new things and keep updated on new and effective teaching strategies and new technologies.

Teachers also play a significant role in their students’ lives, which means as a teacher I must always be watching what I’m doing and I should be a good role model. Everything a teacher does from eating their lunch to communicating with others is mimicked by their students. So, I must watch what I do in school and out of school because you never know whose watching. As a teacher I feel that we have a bigger impact on society than many people think.

I also believe that teachers are brought into this system to mold young children’s minds and to have fun while doing it. Learners learn best when they are interested in the subject or having fun. When you have a fun environment the students don’t realize that they are learning. Children need to be constantly interested in the subject so teachers must be creative in order to incorporate all different interests and learning styles. Having fun is very prominent in a students learnings.

Respect should always be shown in a classroom and a teacher should be the one that makes it happen. Giving and receiving respect in the classroom and schools is important in allowing the students to feel welcomed and safe. Respect can be shown in many ways such as equality, listening to what everyone has to say and by treating all individuals fairly.

Most importantly I believe that there needs to be a well-built student – teacher relationship. Teachers need to get to know their students not only on an academic level but on a personal level as well. All students are unique and they come from all sorts of different backgrounds in which teachers need to take in consideration.
